Striking a nerve: Angry teacher storms from election hustings as Conservative candidate claims ‘students at this school have been failed’

On November 27th, a frustrated teacher stormed from a hustings event at his school after comments made by local Conservative candidate Joe Miller, deflecting from the wider issue of funding, or lack of.

The issue of underfunded schools is as relevant now as it’s ever been. There are all too often reports of teachers at ‘breaking point’ and students ‘under pressure’. This in turn results in a paradox where teachers and students alike are expected to be able to perform more, whilst being provided with less. Education will always be an indispensable pillar of our society and will never lose relevance, unlike other political issues which pass with time. It’s an investment for succeeding generations.
