PC Alexander Walsh

A police officer awaiting sentencing for common assault and stalking a woman has been dismissed from Sussex Police.
Brighton-based PC Alexander Walsh, 33, of St Michael’s Place, Brighton, admitted the charges at Portsmouth Crown Court earlier this month.
Two counts of gross misconduct in respect of discreditable conduct were found against him during a hearing at Sussex Police headquarters last Friday.
He was dismissed without notice, and is due to be sentenced on 12 October.
He pleaded guilty to common assault and stalking without fear, alarm or distress on 5 September.
Det Supt Steve Boniface, head of Sussex Police’s professional standards department, said: “This officer’s behaviour was a violation of the trust that the public put in the police to serve and protect them.”

PC Daniel Moss – R.I.P

Sussex Police officer has been sacked after he was caught selling himself for sexual services while on sick leave.
PC Daniel Moss, 39, based at Hastings, became under formal investigation on December 2 and was immediately suspended from duty.
He was caught advertised himself online as a male prostitute and offered services to perform sexual acts for cash.
A Sussex Police spokesman said this demonstrating a clear conflict in personal and professional interests.
Moss had been on sick leave from September for a stress-related illness.

Detective Inspector Dominic O’Brien

A FORMER police officer chatted online about trying to rape an 11-year-old girl.
Sussex Police Detective Inspector Dominic O’Brien had already resigned from the force after he was accused of sending sexually explicit text messages to the 14-year-old daughter of a murder victim in 2006.
But O’Brien started talking to someone he thought was the mother of an 11-year-old on an online chatroom.
Lewes Crown Court was told yesterday that O’Brien, 52, of Rosemary Avenue, Steyning, was clearly aroused as he discussed his sexual desires towards the child.

PC Luke Smith

A policeman who filmed himself performing sexual acts while in uniform and had dealings with sex workers has been jailed for 15 months.
PC Luke Smith, 34, who was based at Hastings, pleaded guilty to two charges of misconduct in public office and one count of obtaining personal data.
He was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court to 15 months in prison for each misconduct count, to run concurrently.
Sussex Police said Smith was sacked after he admitted the offences.

DC Celia MacDonald

A detective constable failed to properly investigate child sex abuse claims and was only found out when the matter came to light again a year later.
Sussex Police officer Celia MacDonald decided no crime had been committed, did not record a crime or investigate further, the force said.

A gross misconduct panel ruled she would have been sacked if she had not retired just days before a hearing.

Sergeant Philip Patterson aka Philip Savidge

A former Sussex Police officer has been jailed after pleading guilty to making and distributing more than 50,000 indecent images of children.
Philip Savidge, 26, of Alexandra Road, Burgess Hill, was an acting sergeant with Sussex Police at East Grinstead.
He admitted 42 charges relating to the making and distribution of 54,323 images, which included 1,681 prohibited and extreme images.
He was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court to 27 months’ imprisonment.
Savidge was served with a Sexual Offence Prevention Order designed to restrict his access to and use of computer equipment.
The court also made a destruction order for the material and equipment seized by police.

PC Martin Harris

A police officer with “an entrenched sexual addiction” has been jailed for possessing indecent images of children.
Martin Harris took advantage of his work with victims of sex offences, even downloading childhood photos of a rape victim, Hove Crown Court heard.
Harris, 37, of Saltdean, Sussex, who admitted possessing and making indecent images and misconduct in public office, was jailed for two years.
Judge Christine Henson said his actions were a “gross breach of trust”.
Harris, a police constable, who joined Sussex Police in 2002, volunteered as a sexual offences liaison officer for 10 years before applying for the post in the safeguarding investigation unit in Brighton.

Chief Inspector Rob Leet

dismissed after being found guilty of gross misconduct.
Former Chief Inspector Rob Leet and Sgt Sarah Porter were found to have conducted their relationship while at work and misused Sussex Police systems to arrange their liaisons.

Mr Leet, 44, was also found to have taken advantage of a domestic abuse victim by having a sexual relationship with her, also while on duty.

Inspector Lee Lyons

A senior police officer who contacted prostitutes while on duty has been sacked following a misconduct hearing.
Inspector Lee Lyons, of Sussex Police, arranged a location and fee for one woman, “Natalie’s”, services for after his shift ended.
He also used his personal phone at work to make 23 calls to 11 prostitutes in an hour on 23 July.
Mr Lyons, accepted all 21 allegations against him, the disciplinary hearing was told.
He did not attend the seven-minute hearing in front of Chief Constable Giles York at Sussex Police HQ in Lewes.
Mr Lyons, 40, who was based in Hastings, was a critical incident inspector at the time of making the calls and text messages on his police BlackBerry.

Officer Trevor Godfrey

FORMER Sussex officer Trevor Godfrey committed misconduct over his involvement in a stalking case which saw a 19-year-old brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend, a panel has found.
Now-retired Godfrey had told a misconduct hearing Shana Grice had initially lied about being in a secret relationship with older colleague Michael Lane as a “smokescreen” so her boyfriend Ashley Cooke did not find out.
The former Sussex Police officer denied he had applied a stereotype that two people in a relationship cannot be the subject of abuse from one another.

Inspector Tony Lumb

A HIGH-RANKING police officer has been sacked from the force for having sex with women while on duty.
Inspector Tony Lumb formed inappropriate relationships with two women, including a victim of a disability hate crime in Brighton.
At a disciplinary hearing yesterday his 27-year career with Sussex Police was brought to an end after a panel ruled his behaviour amounted to gross misconduct.
It was revealed that the force had investigated him over accusations he had made visits to women who he had previously met as part of his public duties.

A FEMALE police sergeant was sacked from the force for having sex with a married inspector colleague.
Sarah Porter was two ranks below Rob Leet when they conducted a relationship while at work and misused Sussex Police systems to arrange their meetings.

DC Richard Holder

A police officer has been sacked without notice after selling himself for sex while on sick leave.
Det Con Richard Holder of Sussex Police resigned before his dismissal at a disciplinary hearing on Monday.
Ch Con Giles York told the hearing at force headquarters in Lewes that Holder advertised on the AdultWork.com website.
The Police Federation said Holder admitted all of the allegations and had apologised for his lack of judgement.
He is the second Sussex Police officer to have been caught advertising his services as a prostitute in less than two years.
In December 2016, Hastings-based police constable Daniel Moss was dismissed after advertising himself as a male prostitute.
Last year it also emerged Insp Tony Lumb of Sussex Police could face criminal charges over claims he had sex with women he met while on duty.

Daniel Barnes, 40, accessed ‘vile’ images of children while he worked as a police officer with Sussex Police, a court heard today.
The images were found when police raided an address in Bognor in 2017.
